Knowing how to make clothes last longer is an important factor when trying to create a more sustainable wardrobe.
Below are 5 trusted ways to make your clothes last longer:
1. Buy High-Quality Clothing
Purchasing better quality clothing is an important factor when considering the lifespan of your clothing.
When shopping in-store, you should also make sure that the seams on the clothing are intact and not fraying. This is a good indication of quality.
That's why it is advisable to shop with @jt_stores_ng on Instagram.
2. WASH INSIDE OUT.
If you are trying to keep those jeans and t-shirts dark wash them inside out.
It only takes a minute before you wash them to flip them inside out.
This way the outside of the clothes isn’t coming into direct contact with the detergent. thereby reducing fading and increasing longitivity of the clothes.
3. Store Clothes Properly
Closets usually have doors for a reason, and that’s to keep clothes in a cool and dark area to preserve them. If clothes are exposed to direct sunlight over a long period of time, the garment becomes permanently faded.
Also, store your clothes in a cool and dry environment as to not risk mold.
At the very least, sort out white and light-colored clothing from dark clothing. You can also sort lightweight clothing from heavier clothing to further protect clothes.
